Informed Selection of Future Climates

چکیده
Analysis of climate change is often computationally burdensome. Here, we present an approach for intelligently selecting a sample of climates from a population of 6800 climates designed to represent the full distribution of likely climate outcomes out to 2050 for the Zambeze River Valley. Philosophically, our approach draws upon information theory. Technically, our approach draws upon the numerical integration literature and recent applications of Gaussian quadrature sampling. In our approach, future climates in the Zambeze River Valley are summarized in 12 variables. Weighted Gaussian quadrature samples containing approximately 400 climates are then .../

Relationship between Emotional Intelligence, Ethical Climates and Ethical Values of Companies and Auditor’s Ethical Judgment
Background: Evolution of the audit profession and its ability to gain public trust will depend on compliance with code of professional ethics. Fraudulent activities indicate the weakness of the ruling ethical values in work and training environment. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence, ethical climates and ethical values of companie...
متن کاملPlant fitness in a rapidly changing world.
Modern reliance on fossil fuels has ushered in extreme temperatures globally and abnormal precipitation patterns in many regions. Although the climate is changing rapidly, other agents of natural selection such as photoperiod remain constant. This decoupling of previously reliable environmental cues shifts adaptive landscapes, favors novel suites of traits and likely increases the extinction ri...
متن کاملClimate Prediction via Matrix Completion
Recently, machine learning has been applied to the problem of predicting future climates, informed by the multi-model ensemble of physics-based climate models that inform the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Past work (Monteleoni et al., 2011, McQuade and Monteleoni, 2012) demonstrated the promise of online learning algorithms applied to this problem. Here we propose a novel ap...
متن کاملGrowth gains from selective breeding in a spruce hybrid zone do not compromise local adaptation to climate
Hybrid zones contain extensive standing genetic variation that facilitates rapid responses to selection. The Picea glauca × Picea engelmannii hybrid zone in western Canada is the focus of tree breeding programs that annually produce ~90 million reforestation seedlings. Understanding the direct and indirect effects of selective breeding on adaptive variation is necessary to implement assisted ge...
متن کاملComparison of impact of climate change on building energy-saving design for two different climates; Metropolitans of Moscow and Tehran
In the present study, in order to monitor and project climate change impacts on model of the bioclimatic design, a comparative study was conducted between the Middle East and Eurasia as two different climates. This paper used the basic data from 1990 to 2010, and the CMIP5 climate models have been used to project the climate data (radiation, temperature, wind speed, and relative humidity) from ...
